These instructions will help you to install some test data on your SharePoint server, if you do not already have some data to test with (or you don't want to test with your production data!). Please let me know if you have any questions.
The attached file contains three .stp files (SharePoint Services Templates).
Test.stp === some really basic sales data (good for Chart, OK for Grid)StateCapitals.stp = basic state capital data (good for Maps, OK for Grid)Endowments.stp = college endowment data (good for Grid, good for testing master detail view with the state capitals list) Universities.stp = college endowment data supplemented with GeoCode data for the top 30 schools (good for Grid and Maps, good for testing master detail view with the state capitals list)
Unzip these files to your server.
1. Add some data to your SharePoint site a. Click Site Actions, Site Settings, Modify All Site Settingsb. Under Galleries, select List Templatesc. Choose Upload, Upload Documentd. Hit the Browse button, browse to your folder, and select the file you want to usee. Enter a name and hit OK.

2. Select that data as your data sourcea. Go to Site Actions, View All Site Content, click the Create button b. Under Custom Lists, you should see the name you selected in 1e above. Click that link, enter a name, and hit OK. c. Go back to the web page where you have your WebPart hosted for testingd. Click the icon in the upper left corner of the Web Part, to access the configuration properties dialog box.e. Select the Data Source tabf. You should see the new list as a potential data source.
