Spread Designer


To create a mask (PIC) cell

In the Spread Designer,

  1. Select a cell or block of cells.
  2. Choose the cell type using one of the following methods:
    • Display the pop-up menu by right-clicking the cell or block of cells and then choose Mask (Pic).
    • From the Cell menu, choose Cell Type, Mask (Pic).
    • Choose the PIC (Mask) button ( ) on the cell type toolbar.
    The Cell Type dialog box appears.
  3. In the Cell Type dialog box,
    1. Type the mask characters to use to create the mask in the Mask Definition box.
      Use the following characters to specify what type of data the user can type into the mask:

      Mask Character Characters Allowed
      X Any ASCII character
      9 0–9, decimal
      A A–Z, a–z
      plus any alphabetic character from larger character sets such as ANSI or Unicode
      N A–Z, a–z, 0–9, decimal
      U A–Z
      L a–z
      H (Hexadecimal) 0–9, a–f, A–F

    2. Specify text alignment by selecting an option button under Horizontal Alignment and Vertical Alignment.
    3. Specify how text is oriented in the cell by choosing an item from the Text Orientation drop-down list box.
    4. Choose the OK or Apply button.
