Spread Designer


To create and customize a scientific notation cell

In the Spread Designer,

  1. Select a cell or block of cells.
  2. Choose the cell type using one of the following methods:
    • Display the pop-up menu by right-clicking the cell or block of cells and then choose Number.
    • From the Cell menu, choose Cell Type, Scientific.
    • Choose the Scientific button ( ) on the cell type toolbar.
    The Cell Type dialog box appears.
  3. In the Cell Type dialog box, on the Settings tab,
    1. Type the maximum value for the cell in the Max Value box.
    2. Type the minimum value for the cell in the Min Value box.
    3. Type the number of digits that can be typed to the right of the decimal place in the Decimal Places box.

      Note: The total number of digits to the left and right of the decimal symbol cannot total more than 14.

    4. If you want to show negative values in red, select the Show Negative in Red check box.
    5. Specify how the data is horizontally and vertically aligned in the cell by selecting an option button under Horizontal Alignment and Vertical Alignment.
    6. Specify how text is oriented in the cell by choosing an item from the Text Orientation drop-down list box.
    7. Specify whether to show an ellipsis for text that is too long to fit in the cell by selecting the Ellipses check box.
  4. Choose the OK or Apply button.
