Spread Designer
To limit user entry in an edit cell
In the Spread Designer,
- Select a cell or block of cells.

Choose the cell type using one of the following methods:
- Display the pop-up menu by right-clicking the cell or block of cells and then choose Edit.
- From the Cell menu, choose Cell Type, Edit.
- Choose the Edit button ( ) on the cell type toolbar.
The Cell Type dialog box appears. -
In the Cell Type dialog box, on the Settings tab,
- Select a character set that can be used to type data into the cell from the Character Set drop-down list box.
- Click the arrows or type a value in the Length spin box to specify the maximum number of characters allowed in the cell.
- Specify that multiple lines of data can be typed in the cell by selecting the Multiple Lines check box.
- Choose the OK or Apply button.
