Columns and Rows
Many of the custom features you can apply to an individual cell you can also specify for a column, a row, or a range of columns or rows. In addition, you can freeze columns and rows, size them according to the data they contain, and hide them. You can also assign a unique name to each column. You can also allow users to move rows or columns.
Frozen columns do not scroll as the user scrolls through the sheet. By default, the sheet's column header and row header are frozen. You can specify additional adjacent columns and rows that do not scroll. For information about freezing columns and rows, see Freezing Columns and Rows.
You can specify the width of a column and the height of a row, or you can let the dimensions vary depending on the data contained in the column or row. In addition, you can allow users to resize columns and rows in your application. For information about working with column width and row height, see Sizing Columns and Rows.
If you are going to be working with columns, you might want to assign a unique name to each column, instead of referencing the column by its number. For instructions on assigning names to columns, see Providing Column IDs.
