    Visual Studio 2005 type DockingTab

Are there any plans to update the docking controls to have the look and feel of visual studio 2005? A lot of our users complain about the erratic /forced docking nature of the current implementation.

I think it would greatly ease the use of the docking tabs.

I would request you to make things a bit more clear. Please let us know what exact features or behavior, you are looking for.

    Have a look at

    http://www.prof-uis.com/prof-uis/feature-tour/tour_resizable_control_bar.aspx or

    http://www.codejock.com/products/dockingpane/tour_2.asp

as examples. The current system is hard/uncomfortable to use when docking. The fluidity of VS2005 is nice.

I also vote for this feature: VS2008 has very nice helper controls to show the possible docking actions for the current position of the floating window.
It happens often to us that customers have accidentally build a docking tab layout where they find no way to restore it, and it would be very helpful for them to see these helper controls.

I have added a screenshot just to show better what I mean (hope it makes it to the forum): The "Error List" tab control is dragged over the "dock on bottom" field of the helper control in the middle of the screen, which would cause a docking in the current window on the bottom edge.

Would be great, if C1DockingTab would also provide those options.

    Thanks

Just to further emphasise the lack of usability with the docking controls, please run the attached application. It has four C1CommandDocks with various controls in each (mainly C1DockingTabs).

Float the navigator (the left C1CommandDock) then the bottom C1CommandDock. Now try to dock the bottom C1CommandDock and the navigator C1CommandDock, you can never return to the original layout and very weird things being to happen the more you try.

This soon becomes completely unusable and you need to *restart* the application in order to get the original layout. Please, please tell me if the setup is incorrect as there aren't any sample applications showing you how to use the docking control.

For our particular application the main concern is the c1dtFill C1CommandDock, as we need this to gain as much screen resolution as possible, so the idea is to 'Hide' all the other C1CommandDocks. This should be possible.

    Thanks,

    Ernest
