Licensing FAQs

Once you have downloaded and installed ComponentOne Studio products, you need to activate a license for using them. In case you wish to evaluate the products before purchase, skip the license activation process and opt for a 30-day evaluation period. It enables you to use full-featured products for a trial period of 30 days. At the end of the 30-day period, you will not be able to build applications that include unlicensed ComponentOne controls. You can purchase and activate a license at that point or you can request an evaluation key that will grant you another 30-day evaluation period. To activate a license, use the C1LicenseActivation utility available in C1StartMenu.

Q: How do I purchase a license?

A: You can purchase a license through our online store or by contacting our sales department. As soon as you purchase, a key will be emailed to you.

Q: How do I request a 30-day evaluation key?

A: You can get a 30-day evaluation key by contacting sales or though our website's My Account section (you will need an account to proceed with this option).

To use our website to generate a 30-day evaluation key:

Visit My Account and login or create an account. If you create an account, you must use the same email you used when you initially downloaded ComponentOne Studio products.
Find your current evaluation listed under "My Evaluations" and click the Extend Evaluation button.
You will receive an email with our key which you will then need to activate on your machine.

Q: How do I activate a key?

The process for license and evaluation key activation is identical. In either case, you will receive your key via email. Once you have that key, follow these instructions to activate it.

Find the ComponentOne License Activation utility in your C1StartMenu ($/Program Files (x86)/ComponentOne/C1StartMenu) and open it.
Enter your key, choose an activation method, and follow the on-screen instructions.

If you activate a 30-day evaluation key, your trial will proceed exactly as your previous trial did. If you activate a license key, you will be entitled to royalty-free perpetual use.
