Understanding the Types of Views in Spread Designer
Along with opening various file types, as discussed in Opening Multiple Spreadsheets in Spread Designer, Spread Designer can have several views open at once, one for each file.
If you have more than one spreadsheet open in the Spread Designer, the spreadsheet that has the focus is called the active view.
For those that launch Spread Designer from within an fpSpread control, there is another view of which you should be aware. When start the Spread Designer, the spreadsheet view displayed is the Spread view. The title bar of the Spread Designer view reads "Spread Designer - control name". The Spread Designer creates a "snapshot" of the selected fpSpread control. (So the Spread view can be the active view, but the active view does not necessarily have to be the Spread view if you have other files open in Spread Designer).
You can apply the changes from either the Spread view or the active view to the selected fpSpread control. For more information on applying changes made in the Spread Designer, see Applying Changes from Spread Designer to the Control.
To set data-binding properties, the Spread view must be the active view and the fpSpread control must be linked to a data source control. You cannot set data-binding properties for a spreadsheet that you open in the Spread Designer. For more information on using the Spread Designer to set data binding properties, see Binding to Databases.
